Q11:

web interface?
If
you meet GL2422-AP-0T such picture means it is in "backup
mode".
1. If happened in such "backup mode", just feed it with
proper firmware, then it will back to normal mode.
2. If user press the reset button first and then power on, then
GL2422AP-0T will enter "backup mode".
3. If user just turn on power and press reset button immediately
more than twice, then GL2422AP-0T will enter "backup
mode".

Q10:
How
to get connect and configure GL2422-AP?
The
factory default set GL2422-AP enabled as a DHCP server and it is
embedded with a web browser interface for management and
configuration. So, a wireless LAN installer may connect GL2422-AP to
an Ethernet LAN and setup from any PC with web browser. From the PC
LAN card setting, release IP address and refresh IP address again,
you may check the DHCP Server IP address (ex:192.168.1.1), then type
http://192.168.1.1/ at the web browser URL address field, you may
connect to the GL2422-AP, enter the password for administrator then
you can manage it.
|
Q09:
What
are GL2422-AP operation modes?
The
GL2422-AP is designed principally as a wireless LAN access point
that is the base station for wireless clients to communicate with
each other (wireless infrastructure mode) and provides a connection
to the Ethernet wired LAN. In addition to the access point function
mode, it can be set to other modes for some indoor applications.
Because it is embedded with only one processor, one radio channel
and one LAN port, so it performs one function mode at a time. In
other words, "AP", "AP Client", "Wireless
Bridge", "Multiple Bridge" can be selected to be one
function at a time.
|
Q08:
What
is "Access Point" of AP mode?
When
GL2422-AP is set to "AP mode", it accept radio signals
from other wireless stations like PC with PCI card, Notebook with
PCMCIA / CardBus adapter, or PC / notebook with USB adapter and
communicating in "Infrastructure mode" and pass packets
between wireless and Ethernet LANs.

Q07:
What
is "AP Client" of AP mode?
One
of the additional AP operating modes offered by 22mbps Access Point,
which allows the Access Point to act as an Ethernet-to-Wireless
Bridge, thus a LAN or a single computer station can join a wireless
ESS network through it.
When
GL2422-AP is set to "AP Client" mode, it is no longer an
access point, it performs a wireless client adapter only and
transfer packets from Ethernet port of a PC or notebook to talk with
radio signals to another access point. This is specially designed
for some wireless system integrator who are planning projects for
"Ethernet only" PC to connect to the wireless network.
|
Q06:
What
is "Wireless Bridge" of AP mode?
When
GL2422-AP is set to "Wireless Bridge" mode, it needs
another "Wireless Bridge" to work together, the major
function is to transfer packets from Ethernet LAN to wireless to the
second bridge then to the other side of Ethernet LAN. It is no
longer to accept other wireless client's request in this mode (ie:
that is access point function.). To set GL2422-AP in "Wireless
Bridge" mode, AP1 "Remote Bridge MAC" needs to point
to the AP2 LAN MAC address and AP2 "Remote Bridge MAC"
needs to point to the AP1 LAN MAC address.
|
Q05:
What
is "Multiple Bridge" of AP mode?
Multiple
Bridge is one of the additional AP operating modes offered by 22mbps
Access Point, which allows a group of APs that consists of two or
more APs to connect two or more Ethernet networks or Ethernet
enabled clients together. The way that multiple bridge setup is
based on the topology of Ad-Hoc mode.
When
GL2422-AP is set to "Multiple Bridge" mode, it can talk to
the other "Multiple Bridge" mode GL2422-AP, no specific
MAC address needs to be set and several "Multiple Bridge"
GL2422-APs can talk to each other on the same radio channel.
Likewise, it transfer packets between multiple LANs to each other,
no wireless client can access this channel directly. A GL2422-AP set
in "Wireless Bridge" mode can also connect to one and only
one of the "Multiple Bridge" with the proper "Remote
Bridge MAC" set.

Q04:
How
to enhance security function of GL2422-AP from hacker attack?
Please
upgrade firmware to version 3.02.0c or above. This version firmware
improves security to be attacked by hacker through TFTP and UDP.
|
Q03:
We
set two GL2422-APs to work with bridge mode, but it sometimes
disconnect?
The
default setting of GL2422-AP is to work with diversity antenna, it
dynamically switches antenna for the best receiving signal. Some of
the users install GL2422-AP in bridge application with external
antenna, normally they use only one side of antenna.
In
such case, it is required for that GL2422-AP to be configured to
work at "right antenna" or "left antenna" which
is used by the external antenna. Some of the bridge installations
solve problem with such setting.
|
Q02:
How
to reset GL2422-AP back to factory default setting?
To
reset GL2422-AP to factory default, when it is powered ON, press
"reset" button more than 5 seconds.
After
you release the button, all LED will flash and back to normal, it
will be back to factory default settings.
|
Q01:
How
to upgrade GL2422-AP to support IEEE802.1X security feature?
Please
upgrade the GL2422-AP firmware to version 3.3.0 and upgrade
GL2422-AP Windows Utility to version 1.4.
