Q02:
What
is the requirements to setup a VoIP network under existing LANs?
If
For VoIP solutions, EUSSOs VoIP gateway works in the
following requirements:
1. Two or more LANs (Ethernet 10/100Mbps) separated. Each gateway
has a LAN port.
2. Each FXS port can be used to connect regular analog telephone
set.
3. Each FXS port can be used to connect regular analog FAX machine.
4. Each FXO port can be used to connect CO line (Central Office line
from telecomm carrier).
5. Each FXO port can be used to connect PBX external line (PBX OK,
keyphone is not suitable).
6. For simple connection (less than 5 Gateway), "Dial
Plan" can be setup into Gateway firmware/flash
memory
for telephone line number configuration and management.
7. For large telephone network (more than 5 gateways), a software
gatekeeper or
Ciscogatekeeper can
be used for easier management and configuration to maintain
telephone
numbers and locations
dial plan.
8. Each telephone line (channel) need network bandwidth for voice
communication:
If choose G.711 protocol (without compression):
each channel need 60~70Kbps bandwidth.
If choose G.729 protocol (with 8:1 compression):
each channel need 16~20Kbps bandwidth.
If choose G.723 protocol (with 10:1 compression):
each channel need 14Kbps bandwidth.
Cisco VoIP Phone use G.729 protocol, for
compatibility concern, G.729 is recommended.
For limited bandwidth network (like ADSL, VSAT),
G.723 is recommended.
9. VoIP Gateway works by converting user's analog telephone voice
(through FXS port) into digital
signal and transmit packet into LAN port by
TCP/IP protocol. The connected network (either
Ethernet LAN or wireless LAN) must open for
TCP/IP port 1720.
10.Packet pass through traditional router between several LANs is no
problem if the router has no
setting
to block VoIP packets.
11.For users using NAT Router, if the Gateway installed on the
private IP LAN side, it is recommended
to open DMZ port for that VoIP gateway to
communicate with Internet counter side VoIP gateway.
12. For several LANs across internet, it is recommended each VoIP
Gateway to be set with a public
real IP address (fixed IP). Because each
VoIP gateway need to know where to dial from Internet.
13. EUSSO provides several models of VoIP gateway:
4-Port
VoIP Gateway with build-in 1WAN+4LAN Router
UTG7104-224 4-port
VoIP Gateway (2-FXS+2-FXO) + 4-port Router ( Desktop )
UTG7104-S4 4-FXS
Ports VoIP Gateway for Telephone, and Fax Machine + 4-port
Router ( Desktop )
UTG7104-O4 4-FXO
Ports VoIP Gateway for PBX, PSTN Equipment + 4-port Router (
Desktop )
4-Port VoIP Gateway
UTG7104-22 4-port VoIP
Gateway ( 2-FXS Ports + 2-FXO Ports ) (Desktop)
UTG7104-S 4-FXS
Ports VoIP Gateway for Telephone, and Fax (Desktop)
UTG7104-O 4-FXO
Ports VoIP Gateway for PBX, PSTN Equipment (Desktop)
8-Port VoIP Gateway
UTG7108-C 2-Slot
Module Control Unit, host up to 8 Ports ( 19" )
UTG7108-S 4-FXS Port
Module for Telephone and Fax Machine, Used with UTG7108-C
UTG7108-O 4-FXO Port
Module for PBX, PSTN Equipment, Used with UTG7108-C
VoIP gateway with router is for small office without Internet
Broadband router.
4-port VoIP gateway desktop is for SME or branch office use.
8-Port VoIP gateway 19" rack mountable is for central office.
4-Port module FXO and FXS optional is for PBX or Telephone set
connection choice.
For new customer installation under existing LANs, you must know its
requirement and plan in detail, such as:
(1)
What's the existing network TCP/IP setting? Private or public IP?
Which point to Internet?
(2) What's the bandwidth allowed for Voice communication?
(3) How many telephone sets required at the head quarter?
(4) How many telephone sets required at each branch office?
(5) Are they use PBX, which brand and model? Will VoIP gateway
connected through PBX?
(6) How much budget and what network grow planning they request?
Then make a VoIP network plan for that
requirement.

Q01:
We want to setup VoIP direct solution for our offices in two
different locations,
what we need?
If
you use telephone set only, you need FXS port VoIP gateway
(UTG7104-S).
If you use telephone PBX only, you need FXO port VoIP gateway
(UTG7104-O).
If you use both telephone set and PBX, you need FXS and FXO port
VoIP gateway (UTG7104-22).
The best way to use VoIP gateway is fixed IP for reliabel
connection.
If using dynamic IP, you need to subscribe Dynamic DNS for domain
name service.
Our VoIP gateway support both fixed IP and dynamic DNS setup.
Furthermore, if you are using NAT router, our gateway support behind
NAT Router usage.
